A sweet sonic cityscape seems to float by on the breeze of
Niomo's Dream; a heady mix of lounge and dance elements with swirling instruments and background vocals all exuding an energized elegance. Like cool jazz hopped up on some natural high, title track Advance buoyantly bounces with adroit basslines, acrobatic rhythms and several interesting twists along its sinuous course. Downtown bass sounds are hit with stippled percussive interjections, urban femme-choruses and wildly meandering sax riffs in sultry-and-cool
Dubfunk.
Twinkling ivories add definitive classiness to the hovering electronic haze of
Segue One (1:33) just before the thump-thump-thump of
Happens happens by, bringing soft-focus horn explorations, minimalistic keyboarding, smoothly wafting synthwaves and delicate drum-n-bassisms.
Energies build as Sizzle lives up to its name... tropicana rhythms patter in lively patterns beneath hushed electronic veils, then a dancier mode of percussion kicks in. Nature sounds seem to call from behind the swishy sweeps and trickling shimmers of
Segue Two, a refreshing beat-free zone which grows more serious as it evolves, seeping into Somewhere (8:27); jubilant bassbeats and a low, buzzy synthlead share the stage with more-vaporous soundstreams, then are replaced by lighter freeform explorations. Standup bass strums form a relaxing bed upon which to lay the lush piano and synth stylings of The Dayz; a spoken sample seems a bit out of place, but when everything's this cool, so what?
