Larry Kucharz: ComputerChoral Green Prints

(International Audiochrome - 2000)

From his sonic box of crayons, Larry Kucharz is now coloring his sounds in tints of green...

These nine ComputerChoral Green Prints consist primarily of warm, layered blankets of harmonic currents and streaming vocal/choir samples arranged in typically unadorned beauty. (Fortunately, no "Soylent Green" here...)

Kucharz fans won't be disappointed by the familiar long-form floes of opening piece Choral Green; "lush" and "pristine" are previously-used adjectives which still apply to Larry's output. Shorter tonal durations and varying in-between spaces add a bit more "sparkle" to the resonant thrum of Symphonian Green. Another recent work, Corellian Green shapelessly rises and falls in breezily billowing gusts of cloud-like tones.

Dreamy synth strata sweeps through rolling pastoral hills and valleys colored in Taverner Green. Highs and lows loll above and below the brassier glow of Parnasas Green (2:21). Expansive drifts hover in stratified ribbons as Pérotin Green (12:03) closes the disc with lengthy sustains.

Larry interviewed here awhile back if you'd like to revisit that e-conversation, or stop by his webpage to discover more.

With gentleness embodied in his audiocurrents no matter the coloration, Larry Kucharz again unfolds luxuriant layers of his trademark materials. While ComputerChoral Green Prints doesn't present anything significantly "different"*, the disc delivers comfortably familiar 8.3 surroundings, perfect for soaking in.

*see Kucharz' Techno Unit 30 (as Audiochrome), for that...
