Deep Chill Network: Dreams 3

(Dark Duck Records - 2000)

What comes after Deep Chill Network's sonic immersion into Dreams 2? Dreams 3 of course... Dark Duck Records flock leader Stephen Philips again unfurls extended panoramas of subtly shifting soundscapes.

Read our interview with Philips for a closer look...

Quiet gusts of synth billow into Once Upon a Time (17:06) blurring into a continual fogstream from which chiming tones slowly emit. Deeper swells spread across the entryway to less-dense (but certainly not silent) Silence Rendered; layers of synthstrings drape luxuriously, awash in serene celestial breezes. I envision the peaceful to-and-fro motion of a gauzey curtain decorating a window which offers a view to an endlessly expanding universe.

Brassier currents radiate from Long Form (33:00), their hovering emissions, in various highs and lows, flow and recede over a flatlined plain. Phantasmally appearing tonal drones slip into, then out of, the vast soundspace, as do "stringier" presences

Unhurried aural tranquility flows and spreads throughout the longform meditations of Dreams 3. Deep Chill Network's Stephen Philips layers warm nocturnal blankets of sheer, smooth ambient materials. Snuggle up or strech out with these 8.7 comforters.
