A meeting of the eclectronic minds finds Arovane and Phonem collaborating as well as soloing in AER (VALID). Fans of scuffed-up beatronics should be thrilled with these eight treats which combine synthesized sweetness with digitally-effected scruffiness.

Forces are joined on the opening triad; the beatlessly billowing clouds of VALID RAND (1:20) are eventually pounded upon by rough e-percussion and draped with moody tonal washes as the piece becomes the title track. Fluttering and sputtering, VALID FARD merges lovely layers of radiant sheening with staccato rhythmic effects.

Arovane then contributes two tracks of his own; the thumpingly delicious (FARD) ENT:R is an entrancing convergence of the pretty and the gritty. Softer NEYEM twirls with twisted harmonic spirals and fainter percussion.

Phonem delivers a pair of solo pieces as well; raspy beat-breaking rhythms spatter across the shifty sands of SUFFER. An elegant sense of DECAY (8:41) is peppered with grungy percussive effects and odd little scritchies. The artists reconvene for a final collab in the subterranean murk of BLACKSOIL where dark, echoey pulsations are obviously dug from the same material as the opening number.

A dynamic duo indeed... Arovane and Phonem bring their best to this table, spreading out a series of somewhat glitchy pieces without letting their experimentationalism override their ephemeral musicality. 9.1

AER (VALID) is another fine catch from Dutch East.
