Other Art

"Do you engage in other creative art forms besides making music?
If so, give an example of a favorite piece you've done in that medium."
"I do not currently dabble with other creative art forms, music is most definitely my thing! Besides writing electronic music I actually play quite a few instruments: guitar, drums, bass guitar, didgeridoo! and so spend some of my spare time bashing the hell out of a drum kit in a band, quite the opposite of my beloved ambient music!"
    - Maitreya: Ambient Artist @ Council of Nine

No, I've never engaged. but I do design for my CD jacket and take pictures for it. I found many interests to make reasonable combinations between music inside and artwork outside.
    - Koji Asano: Experimental Musician @ Solstice

I did lots more Filmaking earlier in my career. "Viaduct" "Tracks" Text/Poetry too: "Silence" "City Street Scenes"
    - lk: (audiochrom)

Computer graphic arts in the form of the software, Bryce 4. I love this software. Even someone with little experience can create great looking pieces.. no favorites really, just a lot of fun...I notice that many cd covers are done with Bryce...
    - Dino Pacifici: Music-Language of the Spirit

I write occasionally, sometimes obsessively for a time. This is usually when I'm not working on music as much, as I have to have some outlet to stream the ideas....It's more a private and personal thing, so I don't really have an example. I may publish something someday.
    - Vir Unis: ambient/electronic artist

I intend to write a short story about psychosis in the city.
    - Andrew Lagowski: noise programmer

Yes, I also work in visual art. But - it's like children -I don't have a favourite.
    - Nigel Ayers: of Nocturnal Emissions

I was involved in a number of other art forms long before I got into music. In fact, since my early twenties I always assumed that writing would be my main form of expression, and that if I were to become known for anything, it would be that. My favorite piece of my own writing is a novel I wrote in 1993 (actually the third novel I wrote, none of them published) called "Hum." It's a story about a person who acquires the ability to see, and move around in, different layers of reality that are not apparent to those around him, but which overlap our own consensus reality.
    - M. Griffin: Hypnos Recordings

although i don't do it often enough, i find painting to be very relaxing. it's one creative form that leaves me feeling completely satisfied- because i have absolutely no expectations of the experience or results. i have one small painting of an octopus with tree limbs as arms that is probably my favorite.
    - Jon Sheffield: bedroom producer

I generally tend to focus my energies exclusively on music, although I have, in the past, enjoyed drawing stick figure cartoons as a sort of "running commentary" of my life in general. They aren't much to look at or read, but they help me vent the day to day frustrations that we all face.
    - Jeff Pearce: ambient guitarist

i'm also a graphic designer... a favorite piece? the cover for Sound Track "The Cooler" coming out soon on caipirinha music... or the new vertical 12k logo.
    - taylor deupree:12k

For me another creative immersion involves the writing of fiction, but this remains a private endeavor at the moment, and I am not yet ready to bring any piece out into the world.
    - Joshua Maremont: Thermal / Boxman label

I've been a graphic artist for many years, and still consider this my main strength artistically, I suppose. I've done a series of painted slides I'm quite pleased with, something I should probably post on Foundrysite. I also write and would say that several of the Foundry chapbooks are pretty successful. My faves are X's Disease, Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Theseus and Ariadne, and the upcoming Aria.
    - M. Bentley: the foundry

For this is absolutely an obvious choice since I've been doing photography for several of my CD releases and while I regret having no more time free for going deeper into this creativity, it always has been for me the perfect way of explaining and describing my music. Even when I can't manifest myself anylonger as a musician, I do hope to continue to find that satisfaction in photography.
    - Vidna Obmana: ambient/electronic artist
